The best Chrome extensions to clean up YouTube
How to declutter YouTube and enjoy watching videos without distractions.
Obviously, you should have YouTube Premium (referral link) by now — who has time to watch all those ads? With that out of the way, let’s look at two Chrome add-ons or extensions that can make life even easier when using YouTube on your computer.
Unhook
A great browser extension to remove YouTube distractions, including the recommended sidebar, video suggestions after finishing a video, user comments, related videos feed on the homepage, trending tab and many more. You can also turn off autoplay or annotations.
Install via Chrome web store (also available for Firefox and Edge)
FreshView
This Chrome extension will simply hide watched YouTube videos from your homepage, so you always get new recommendations instead of already watched videos.
Bonus: Picture-in-Picture
Not a declutter extension per se, but helpful nonetheless. This extension comes directly from Google and allows you to watch videos in a floating window (you can adjust size and location) so you can keep an eye on what you’re watching while interacting with other sites, or applications.
And now enjoy YouTube (referral link) distraction-free. If you have more recommendations, put them in a comment below!
